Now you can call anywhere in the US and Canada for free and get low rates for other countries with this small plugin — right from within Gmail. Right now it is only for North American users later on for other users.
To do so, you need to first place an outbound call from the Gmail interface, and then under Settings > Voice Settings > Phones, click the "Google Chat" checkbox. This will route Google voice calls through Gmail.
