Security advisory for IT teams and infrastructure leaders:
It’s time to stop using Notepad++ on servers. Recent disclosures of multiple critical vulnerabilities have made it a potential risk surface in production and sensitive environments. Even small utilities, when left unmanaged, can become entry points that compromise stability, security, and compliance posture.
A practical step is to remove Notepad++ from all servers and transition to more modern, actively maintained alternatives such as Pulsar Edit, which provides strong capabilities without increasing operational risk.
Security hygiene is not just about firewalls and patching core systems — it’s also about the tools we allow inside our environments. Tightening these small gaps helps prevent larger incidents later.
